The Old Grudge

An old warrior sits in an abandoned math classroom, polishing his sword. He idly looks up at the poster showing multiplication tables pealing off the wall. Wasn't this supposed to be a college? What kind of idiot doesn't know their multiplication tables by college? His train of thought is interrupted by Average Joe, a young kid with good intentions and not a lot of experience.

"Drell! I found a new stronghold!" Joe eagerly relayed.

"Mhum." The disinterest was very apparent in Drell's voice. "Angels? Demons? As if it mattered."

"Angels. Some new guys in the Nexus calling themselves Team Laser Explosion." The name meant nothing to Average Joe. But it meant so much to Drell.

Drell froze. He closed his eyes for a moment and thought back...


Drell was suddenly in another place, another time. He fought under a different banner, the banner of Trinitas. It was a time when he felt there was still hope for an alliance with some of the angels. Different times for sure. These were the days when he wielded his Flaming Sword side by side with his 2 best friends, one with a Death Sword, and one with a Thunder Sword. Together they fought. They had 1 simple rule, a rule which Drell insists on maintaining to this day. They would fight fair. If they already had the standard of an enemy faction in their stronghold, they would leave them be. It was assumed that any foe too weak to recover their standard was too weak to be a threat, and therefore too weak to be a foe. Drell remembered looking upon the collection of flags. It was not quite 100. Nearly so, but not quite 100 unique flags. And then...
