Nexus Clash :: View topic - Single-Night Werewolf: The Game Thread: TOWN WINS!
Posted: Tue Oct 13, 2015 7:40 am Post subject: Single-Night Werewolf: The Game Thread: TOWN WINS!
Okay, rules up first. READ THEM CAREFULLY THROUGH BECAUSE THEY DIFFER A LOT FROM NORMAL MAFIA RULES!
I will send in the role PM's. Once you receive your role PM, send in your night action immediately / as soon as possible. If you do not have a night action, please send a PM STATING THAT YOU'VE RECEIVED AND READ YOUR ROLE PM. Night actions will resolve in the following order: Werewolf, Seer, Robber, Troublemaker, Drunk.
1. The Night will last until everyone has sent in their night action. Posting during the Night is Not Allowed.
2. The Day will last 72 hours. When the day ends, I'll make a post stating so. YOU MAY NOT POST AFTER THE DAY HAS ENDED.
3. The Voting Phase begins when the day ends. Voting is done by sending me a PM with the name of the player you wish to vote for. YOU MUST VOTE FOR SOMEONE. You can not vote for yourself. You can not vote a placeholder.
4. After everyone has voted, I'll reveal the votes by posting them in the thread. The player with the most votes is lynched. In the case of a tie, all the players tied for the most votes, are lynched, EXCEPT IF:
4.1. IF -EVERYONE- receives exactly 1 vote, nobody is lynched.
4.2. You can only vote players. Placeholders can not be voted - the roles assigned to the placeholders are kind of "out of the game", but not exactly. More on this later.
5. Victory: The Town wins if they manage to lynch at least 1 werewolf. If the town lynches the minion, but a no werewolves were killed (and there is at least 1 werewolf among the players), then the werewolves win.
5.1. The Werewolves win if no werewolves were lynched.
5.2. It is entirely possible that both werewolves are in the placeholders. In this case, there are no werewolves in the game. If this happens, the town only wins by lynching the Minion.
5.2.1. In the -very- unlikely event that the werewolves, and the minion, are all in the placeholders, the town can only win by -not- lynching anyone. This happens if everyone has exactly 1 vote, in which case nobody is lynched.
6. Editing or Deleting posts is strongly discouraged. Do not Edit Or Delete Posts. I'm not going to modkil anyone or anything if you do this, but please just don't. You shouldn't have any reason to do so.
7. The game should move fairly rapidly. There's only one day, followed by the voting. The wolves have no night kill, and there are no mechanics of killing anyone, except for the lynch at the end of the game, and then the game ends.
8. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO TALKING ALLOWED OUTSIDE OF THE GAME THREAD; DAY OR NIGHT. THIS INCLUDES THE WEREWOLVES - YOU MAY NOT TALK TO EACH OTHER; NOT EVEN DURING THE FIRST NIGHT.
9. Please note that there are a few roles which may interact with your role in various ways: The Robber, The Troublemaker (and the Drunk, to an extent). If your role is exchanged either by the Robber or the Troublemaker, you will not be notified about the change. Thus, when the day dawns, you might be in a different team than you were before, and you might not even know it.
9. Remember that you win with your team, even if you are dead at the end of the game, as long as your team wins. If your role has been changed, then your victory condition may have changed as well.
10. YOU MAY NOT QUOTE DIRECTLY ANY PM I MIGHT SEND YOU.
There are a total of 9 roles in the game (technically though just 7 different roles -> There are 2 villagers and 2 werewolves, all other roles are unique). There are only 6 players though - I've randomized 6 of the 9 roles between the players. The other 3 roles have been randomized to "placeholders", called "Left", "Middle", "Right".
Werewolf, if both are in the game wrote:
You are a werewolf, and the other werewolf is X.
You may -not- talk outside of the game thread!
You win if no werewolves are lynched at the voting phase.
Werewolf, if only one is in the game wrote:
You are the only werewolf.
During the first night, you may investigate one of the placeholder roles (Left, Middle, or Right). Send me a PM which you would like to investigate immediately. You will then be told the name of the role of that placeholder. Please note that this might not be a safe role to claim.
You win if you are not lynched.
Minion wrote:
You are the Minion.
The Werewolf is X/The Werewolves are X and Y/There are no werewolves. The werewolves do not know wether or not the minion is in the game, or who he is. You win if no werewolves are lynched. In the event that there are no werewolves in the game, you win only if the town lynches someone other than yourself.
Seer wrote:
You are the Seer.
During the night you may investigate either ONE player, in which case you will be told their role, OR TWO of the placeholder roles (Left, Middle, or Right), in which case you will be told the what role which placeholder holds. Please send in your investigation immediately.
You win with the town.
Robber wrote:
You are the Robber.
During the night you may exchange your role with another player (but not with a placeholder). Please send me a PM stating the name of who you'd like to exchange your role with. You will then be told the name of your new role. The one who you changed roles with, will -not- be told that their role has changed, but they now win with the town. You now win with whatever victory condition your new role has. If the new role has a night action, you -do not- get to take that action. The player you stole the role from will still perform the night action (if they haven't done so already). Should you steal the role of Werewolf or Minion, you will -not- be told how many werewolves there are, or who they are.
If you do not want to exchange your role with anyone, please send in a PM stating so. In this case, you'll win with the town. The player who received this role from you, now wins with the town.
Troublemaker wrote:
You are the Troublemaker.
During the night, you may choose 2 players. These players will have their roles exchanged with each other. They will not be told that their roles have been changed. They will still carry out their night actions, as normal, if any. You may not choose yourself for this. You will not be told what their roles are. You can not choose placeholders for this.
You win with the Town.
Drunk wrote:
You are the Drunk.
During the Night, you -must- choose one placeholder to swap your role with. Please send me a PM immediately stating which one you want (Left, Middle, or Right). You will -not- be told what your new role is.
You win with the victory condition of your new role.
(in the event that this role is exchanged to someone else by either the robber or the troublemaker, they win with the town.)

You win with the town.
Basically, the point of the game is to reconstruct what's happened during the night, who's what, and then convince enough people to follow your reasoning so that you can lynch a werewolf (or, for wolves/minion, to ensure that no werewolves are lynched).
Because there's no voting during the day, I suggest that you keep track of what roles everyone claims, and /or what roles you suspect someone is. I suggest that you do this, for example, like this:
"I suspect that X Y Z because of A B and C, so, Tomppa must be either scum, or maybe he isn't sure of his role. Thus:
Tomppa: Werewolf/Minion/Drunk"
Or, for example:
"I investigated Teksura. He's a Villager.
Claim: Seer Teksura: Villager"
This would make it easier for others to follow. Just a suggestion, though.
Please note that when the game ends, you win with the victory condition of the role you have at that moment, which might differ from the role you had at the beginning of the game. Example: If you are a werewolf, and your role was exchanged with, say, a villagers role, you would not know it. In addition, you would win with the town, and not with the werewolves.
Please also be aware that when the day begins, there's a good chance your role is no longer what it was when the night began. You, of course, would have no way of knowing whether or not it was exchanged. Please also take notice of the order in which the actions resolve. If you have any questions regarding rules or how something works, Please send me a PM, and I will post the answer in the thread if needed. _________________ "I am your Slave

EDIT: ROLE PM's Have been sent. Please send in your Night action OR, in the event that you do not have a night action, confirmation that you've received your role. _________________ "I am your Slave

All players have received and confirmed their roles, and taken their night actions (if any).
So, Game on!
DAY PHASE BEGINS! YOU HAVE 72 HOURS BEFORE IT ENDS!
Also, please make sure you're familiar with the rules and roles.
In the case of questions or confusion, don't hesitate to PM me!
EDIT: Also, please note that the day is pretty short. It's unlikely that I'll grant any extension for this - Part of the point of the game is that you only have limited time to solve the game. I've no idea if 3 days is too much or too little, though, so I -may- adjust it. _________________ "I am your Slave

I'm not sure town all claiming makes sense, especially with placeholders in play, and I notice you didn't claim any role Wozzy... _________________ My Characters
Everyone claims, seer confirms, troublemaker says who he swapped, drunk either helps or harms. depending on which team he is now on, and thief does the same. Any discrepancies, and that person gets the vote.
Seer can only confirm one player or possibly deny up to two's claims (if they both chose placeholders you discovered) AND that all hinges on which action you chose at night.
The actual thing that matters is you Wozzy, did you investigate a player or placeholders? -if you investigated a player then a mass claim simply lets the werewolves claim placeholders with ease, if you investigated placeholders then maybe a mass claim could work.
Unfortunately a mass claim in the case that the robber stole a werewolf role also leads directly to a werewolf win, the robber simply lies about who they stole from.
The only safe way to mass claim I can see is if the seer investigated placeholders, reveals them now (thus eliminating all but one placeholder) and then we lynch every single person who claims something that could be that remaining placeholder AND the robber. _________________ My Characters

If I, the troublemaker, chose a werewolf, a mass claim is actually very good play. Once I reveal who I switched, the person who used to be wolf will say that they used to be wolf, meaning the other player is now wolf and we can lynch them. Game over, easy as that. That is, assuming I chose one wolf and one townie, rather than two wolves, a wolf and a minion, or a townie and a minion. We'll cross that bridge when we get there I suppose.
Also, there's no reason not to roleclaim since this game is only one night. Anyone who doesn't roleclaim is hurting the town's chance of winning, and thus suspect as scum.
