This would be a good thing to keep in mind if we get a better system for displaying enchants than the current mouseover text. The mouseover display is nice for desktop users, but it's completely unusable for all but a few mobile interfaces, and the dropdown currently provides a nice confirmation of which enchanted items still need work for mobile users.
The main inconvenience this suggestion is trying to solve is items of the same kind stacks so if you have 10 sledgehammers, you won't be able to enchant the rest without stashing the enchanted one first.
