An old swordsman rests in an undisclosed location. He expects what is coming today, purely by instinct. It's been a while and the demons are surely getting restless.

There it is. Of course they wouldn't dare attack the angels of All Your Souls. The cowards are afraid of the army of pets the angels have defending their home. The old swordsman knows this. It wasn't long ago that he was clashing blades with that same army. It took a few attempts to figure it out, but he grew stronger from the failures, as all wise men do. He led his team against them again and again until they figured out the tricks. He discovered how to cut through the army, and strike into the heart of the angelic stronghold.
The demons on the other hand, appear to have given up trying, and instead have redirected their fury on humanity. Perhaps they hoped to intimidate us into siding with them. Perhaps that would have been the better move. An angelic victory over the demons wouldn't be much better than the other way around. Both sides are guilty of using humanity as tools to further their own agenda. Both sides disregard our freedoms, and look down upon us as though we are lesser beings. Disgusting. But here he was, waiting for this to happen so he could strike back at the demons with the knowledge that the angels and he had agreed to a temporary truce. A truce with the angels, what an idea. The old swordsman didn't like it, but it had to be done. If the demons were too afraid of the angels to attack them, the disadvantage would fall upon humanity. Fighting both at once was a poor strategy, one which he had to shift to fall upon the demons. With the truce, both the angels and humanity only had 1 target in their sights: The cowardly demons hiding in their ebony fortress, surrounded by lava. This new situation would put them at a disadvantage instead. The old swordsman expected to end the truce as soon as the demons found enough courage to cut through the angelic pet army just as he had done. He just wasn't sure when that might happen.

Won't be long now. In his younger days, the old swordsman would have wanted to be there to help defend. He would have wanted to stand at the ready to fight off the raiders. But this old swordsman; Drell, was not so young anymore. He could certainly hold his own in a fight just as well as he always could, but he was far wiser than the brash young man he used to be.
Drell had seen many things in his time, he remembered many struggles throughout many breaths. He was there when the angelic hosts turned their swords towards humanity, revealing their true nature and painting the walls of their own vaults of enlightenment with the blood of those humans they deemed unworthy. He was there when his small collection of friends could stand against nearly a hundred factions. But he wasn't there now. He couldn't be, because he knew better than that.

There it goes. Exactly as expected. And here he was, far away from the battle. Lying in wait to launch the planned counter-attack. Fighting and dying in defense wouldn't have accomplished nearly as much as what he was about to do. He looked down as something brushed against his hand. Mahi, his loyal Origami Tiger and companion for almost as long as he has been fighting, had sensed Drell was troubled and tried to comfort him. She was a good girl.
Drell knew that both The Deadly Sins and All Your Souls must fall. If The Deadly Sin were going to ignore their 3 way battle and focus only on humanity, then its Foundation would return the favor. He wondered to himself if the demons of The Deadly Sins truly did lack the courage to cut through the defenses of the angels of All Your Souls as he had done. Perhaps they did, perhaps they did not. Perhaps they lacked the intelligence to find the weakness. Perhaps they lacked the strength to implement it. Perhaps they lacked the will to fight it out. It really didn't matter. This war, this thunderous clash of 3 of the greatest titans in the Nexus, it would test the resolve of them all. But for as long as the demons refused to attack the angels- whatever failings responsible -they would remain at a disadvantage. While the demons attack us, we prepare swift counter-attacks, and the angels launch their own strikes unhindered by the lack of assaults. If the demons wish to survive, they're going to need to take those angels down a few pegs at some point. Then with their attacks properly divided, humanity can resume its true calling, and fight against both. Humanity can fight for free will. _________________
It was time. Overdue, in fact. The old swordsman has slept too long, but Drell was not put off by this. It will all work out.
He sent a call out to his allies, who stood at the ready. 3 of them took action. This was all that was needed. 2 of those allies met up with Drell alongside the target, the aggressors who had struck them recently.

A little luck never hurt, and Drell knew he must have had plenty to spare. They began their counter-attack.

This was one of the ones who had attacked us recently. Drell wasn't surprised that it was Serena to strike down the first. She always was eager, didn't even wait to be clear of fortifications. She just jumped right into them. Drell supposed this was fitting for the Demon of Sudden Death. But Drell had other things on his mind.

Way ahead of him. So fast Drell almost missed it.

So much for the Demon of Stars of Ill Omen. Maybe he should have checked those stars.

Drell didn't like cutting down a fellow human, but this one had chosen the path of enslavement by demons. A willing tool for their cause. Maybe he could still be inspired to turn his back to them and strive for something more. Maybe he was too far gone and would defend his lesser status to the death. Now was not the time to find out.

Drell wondered what the Interplanetary Explorer Extraordinaire actually explored these days. Even if you could construct a rocket and escape, where would you go? The only thing out there was dying and decaying into nothing.

The Demon of Despair. This one thought itself a god of sorts. The irony is that it couldn't even perform basic alchemy.

Thus falls the Duchess of Zamhareer. Calls herself the Demon of Honest Advice. Somehow that seemed unlikely to Drell.

The Demon of Forgery was still young, but Drell expected more of the same from it as what he saw from its kin. It really didn't matter, this one would be dealt with later when that time comes.

Not exactly ideal timing. Drell remembered the time it took roughly 10 minutes to pull together a counter-attack on AYS. Drell kind of wondered if these demons were brave enough to fight the biggest angelic faction in the Nexus, just as he had done. He figured they'd be back for their standard, they always do. But maybe they'll steel themselves enough to tackle the angels head-on after that. Maybe then we can go back to the norm, where all 3 storms are clashing.
Drell vanished from the Ebony Tower. Who could say where he went, but he wouldn't stay there for long. It wouldn't take long for him to return to the safety of his stronghold. _________________

Isabel Hasheen of the Deadly Sins:
How quickly so-called defenders of humanity throw their lot in with the angels. We cannot help but notice that making a pact with angelkind neatly excuses you from having to fight them yourselves. You preach freedom, but demonkind means the freedom to fight and strive and bring death as we please, without worrying about balance nor throwing yourself at the toughest target because it is there. Demonkind are like the searing rivers, flowing wherever there is weakness. In time, you'll learn the wisdom of that. From your tactical choices, it looks like you've come to more or less the same conclusion as we did, but with a stamp of nobility on it. In time, you'll learn to see it as it is.
Serena Hasheen of Foundation:
Serena says nothing, but waves angrily with her sword and hovers all ghost-like. Occasionally she flickers in and out of translucency. After a while she writes something on a pad she pulls out of her pocket, but stuffs it back into her pocket and nodnods at Drell.
A Baby Harp Seal of All Your Souls:
The seal waggles his seal paws happily and barks before going back to sleep on an ice floe. You can't help but feel hungry looking at him, thinking of all that delicious seal meat and lustrous seal fur waiting to be eaten and made into warm clothing. The seal naps contentedly, certain that no harm will come to him.
Inside of the AYS stronghold a Lightspeaker looks up from the disassembled Judgemaster on its workbench and looks out the window thoughtfully.
"whats on your mind Ross?" says a nearby angel
"Oh nothing , I'm just watching that middle aged stepdad type with the Katana brood outside"
"yeah what is that guys deal? aren't we friends now?"
"Yeah he's just being all mysterious I think"
"Should we bring him some pie?"
"yeah we should, that broody old soldier act must be making him hungry."
