Thinking through the mindset of a newish player, if I see:
| Quote: | | - Secundus Nulli spoke words of blessing that caused a ripple of virtue to surge through the area. You were affected and gain the Blessed status effect for 30 ticks. X characters were affected. |
Or
| Quote: | | - A friendly wizard spoke words of power and a silvery light pulsed through the area. You feel a heightened connection to the supernatural. |
And see Blessed (30)| Arcane Well (Local) on my screen, I have no idea what just happened, or how to use these statuses to my advantage. I still have to look up the effects of Arcane Trail or Blessed myself, because I don't play characters that have those skills.
Suggestion: Make it so that when you mouseover a status effect, text explaining the stat changes appear, ala the HP or MP totals appearing when you mouse over a red/blue bar.
For example, if I mouseover "Drunk, (40)" Make something appear along the lines of "+1 to Melee and Hand-to-Hand Damage, -5% All Attack to-hit."

I like this especially because sometimes the wiki is... non-descriptive and even... wrong.
It'll be really useful for when you get those rare effects from desecration too.

Absolutely agree. Not just because one of my toons gets a mention  but I've regularly had to search the wiki to confirm just how useful/less my prayer results are.
The mouseover popup (like the HP/MP and pet owner ones) as suggested is what I was thinking for the best way to do it too.

Arcane well is in there
Glyphs got their own page, though they probably should be in the list.
What if the status effects just linked to the appropriate entry on the Wiki? This way Bob wouldn't have to hard-code anything and we could change the wiki whenever a status effect is changed. |
