Do we have any otter characters in this Nexus?
I know I've seen the ferrets, but is it the same guy that played the otters?

Anyway, here is a vid I came across that reminded me of him/them.

Alcohol Drunk 5 55

Imagine that. I expect that the main reason the local otters don't do this is simply that they can't get served. No ID.

Doors Repaired 12 90

Oddly enough, they seldom do this around here. Perhaps because there are relatively few doors in the bay.

Food Eaten 0 41

This, on the other hand, is pretty impressive. The local population is voracious. Nom nom nom. One otter would pretty much eat its way through your fridge (if stocked with crab and squid) in a day.

Items Crafted 2 5

Fair enough. Mostly tools for smashing open dinner. See Food Eaten.

Power Restored 43 223

Who knew? As with Doors Repaired, the local lack of electrically proficient otters could be an artifact of their habitat.

I believe the otter may have "read" the books by methodically tearing them apart looking for tasty treats. We have a fairly rigorous No Books for the Otters program around these parts, so it's hard for me to say, but their approach to many objects is to pull them apart to see if there are any tasty treats inside. With sea urchins and molluscs, the answer is Yes, so I can't really fault their approach.

"Benedict Cumberbatch." I never heard of him. Is that his real name, or was he the winner of the Ponciest Name Ever contest? Either way, color me impressed.

He's a British actor. He played Sherlock Holmes in the recent modern day BBC TV series 'Sherlock'. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth looking out for. Not sure that the US version with Lucy Liu will be as good.

Otters have a long and noble tradition in all aspects of entertainment, going back years.

For example, the artist Anne-sofie von Otter.

In an otterly remarkable coincidence, she sang words to Shakespeare, who himself referred to otters, to wit:

Henry IV, Part I, Act 3, Scene 3, verses 110-113 wrote:
MISTRESS QUICKLY
Say, what beast, thou knave, thou?

FALSTAFF
What beast? Why, an otter.

PRINCE HENRY
An otter, Sir John. Why an otter?

FALSTAFF
Why, she’s neither fish nor flesh; a man knows not where to have her.

And of course, the Three Stooges often said "Why, I otter..."

It was Kyllian and his character "a playful otter" who started it all I think. He became something of a mascot for the Ragged Philanthropists, and this subsequently led to otters becoming a recurring motif for the faction. But it's not all Nexals; I mean for TSO the obsession was crabs.

Otters are otterly adorable! And otterly full of fun!

Yes, I'm the same player as 'a black-footed ferret'.
No, I'm not the same player as 'A hallucinogenic purple ferret'.
Yes, I'm the same player as 'a tree octopus' and 'a pack of puppies'.
No, I don't play any of the cats currently running around the Nexus.
Yes, I actually do and have had characters that are not animals of any kind.
No, I'm not going to list all of them. Smile
Factoid: my first animal character in the Nexus was a devilbunny; the otter was created soon after. I was already paying jorm for extra character slots at that point, and the Open Beta of NW was barely started. The otter was not a founding member of the RP, but he was a member since well before they moved to The Wrench.
